The Oregon Legislature has an online tool  for you to easily find your state representative and senator. Use it to make an appointment directly, call, or send an email!

Talking with Your Legislator:

  • Tell your story! Share the current reality for you, your colleagues, and your students.
  • Tell your legislator:
    • Educators are deeply committed to the success of every child. We put students first.
    • Invest in public education for the future of our students and a healthy economy.
    • Provide community colleges the money that was promised to them.
    • Save a seat at the table for educators working on the front lines in order to better inform education reform/policy decisions.
    • Leave your contact info so they can call you.
    • Schedule a coffee/meeting back in your district/college after the February session.
    • Invite your legislator to visit your classroom, building, or worksite.

What Else Can I Do?

  • OEA members: Join OEA-PIE to continue the conversation and help hold elected officials accountable.
  • Share your experience today with your colleagues at your next building or staff meeting.
  • Write a letter to the editor of your local paper about why you participated in the Day of Action.
  • Include a short write-up about the Day of Action in a letter to parents or your local association newsletter.
  • Ask your colleagues to get involved and engaged in your local association activities!
